Position
We will all now take two years to update our city general plan...that's fine, we can all play. At the same time, we need to give some serious thought to what limits, if any, we are going to impose on commercial construction. That limiting legislation expires next year.

Buyers can choose zero, one, or two spaces, with the condo’s cost adjusted accordingly. Santa Barbara city planner Betty Weiss said a project of this size would more likely to be zoned for the city core than for Eastside and Westside neighborhoods.

Needy families dependent on welfare and Medi-Cal, children of low-income families, and individuals suffering from HIV or AIDS were all part of Gov. An elimination of the CalWORKS program, as the governor proposed Wednesday, would affect up to 3,500 families in Santa Barbara County, according to Kathy Gallagher, the director of the county Social Services Department. There are 461 people living with HIV/AIDS in Santa Barbara County, Mickiewicz said.

Hearings begin on Santa Ynez Valley plan

As part of the final steps to completing the Santa Ynez Valley community plan, the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission will be holding several meetings in May and June to receive public comment. At the meeting, county staff will provide a presentation on the proposed land use and development plan and the environmental evaluation of the future growth. The time and location for the two subsequent public hearings, on June 3 and June 29, will be announced at the first and second meetings.

Village Green now Heritage Square Park

Council members agreed to the name change to clear up confusion about which area is the real Village Green and to formalize the name “Heritage Square” for a nearby cluster of museums. “The historical area has never been named either,” Perrin explained. When the Arroyo Grande General Plan was updated in 2001, the area was identified as a “pocket/ wayside park” called Nelson Green.

Goleta's Political Pruning

Trees in the city of Goleta are thriving despite governmental machinations and budget shortages involving their care. A total of $47,000 would go to Goleta Valley Beautiful. Then-mayor Michael Bennett recused himself from the vote as he’s on the Goleta Valley Beautiful board of directors, but councilmember Roger Aceves voted against giving Goleta Valley Beautiful the contract.
